CPA cuts output growth forecast for 2026, former solicitor joins scaffolding industry and doubles salary and electrician fundraises to finance an elderly couple's re-wiring job
The Construction Products Association (CPA) has already slashed its annual forecast for industry growth.
The trade body has revised its original prediction for industry output growth to just 1.7% for the year — a drop of 1.1% from its October forecast.
According to the trade body, businesses in the construction supply chain are reporting an ongoing slowdown in activity in key sectors.
Unfortunately, continuing weak economic fundamentals and geopolitical developments are likely to lengthen the period of uncertainty holding back growth.

A former solicitor has doubled her salary after joining the scaffolding industry.
33-year-old Mollie Pollard from Staffordshire ditched her legal career two years ago and joined her husband Tom, at Attridge Scaffolding.
Not only has Pollard increased her salary but she also has more free time!
The former lawyer hopes her career switch will inspire other women to consider careers in scaffolding and construction.

An electrician in Scotland has started a GoFundMe page for an elderly couple after seeing the state of the electrical work in their home.
Brandon Burdett, who works for JD & W Hamilton was called to a property in Kirkcaldy to look at a fuse box. But on further investigation discovered one of the worst installs he’d ever seen.
Burdett’s campaign, which has been supported by other electrical firms in the area, has already raised over £1,700 towards the cost of re-wiring the house.
