Labour MP Amanda Martin reveals tougher penalties for tool thieves, Fundraising Regulator finds James Anderson breeched code of practice and joiner wins a Ford Mustang and £50,000!
The government has unveiled plans for a Sentencing Bill that promises to deliver tougher punishments for those convicted of tool theft.
Amanda Martin, Labour MP for Portsmouth North said that the bill would mean that courts had to consider the full effect of tool theft during sentencing, “not just the value of the stolen equipment, but the emotional distress, loss of income, business disruption and mental health impact”.
Other measures outlined by Martin included banning prolific thieves from construction sites, and tougher community sentences including the restriction on personal freedoms of convicted thieves.

An investigation by the Fundraising Regulator into James Anderson, and his community interest company (CIC) Depher found multiple breaches of the fundraising code of practice.
Anderson provided free boilers and other plumbing services to vulnerable customers in the Burnley area.
The regulator said the CIC had used misleading images on social media and failed to “evidence claims made as part of its fundraising efforts.”
Anderson won multiple awards, internet fame and donations from Huge Grant and Lily Allen before a BBC investigation accused it of faking stories to raise funds.

It is the second time Martin Hiett has won the competition, having previously won £40,000 and a Hyundai i30N just three years ago.
