Coventry tool thieves get over four years each after crime spree, UK housing stock could be a cause of health emergency and electrician trains dog to fetch his tools

Two brothers were jailed for over four years each for a series of tool thefts that plagued Coventry earlier this year.

David and Patrick McDonagh were convicted earlier this month for a string of crimes that saw them steal tools and cause damage to vehicles worth more than £42,000.

The police made hundreds of hours of enquiries to identify the brothers.

Detective sergeant Jay Aston from Coventry Neighbourhood Crime Team said the “sentence sends a clear message that this kind of crime will not be tolerated in Coventry.”

Jeson Smith filmed his puppy rushing over to fetch a pair of plyers on command.

Smith told his local paper that the dog was more than useful, he was his “best friend”.
